Michiganology In-Person
Kris Rzepczynski is a senior archivist at the Archives of Michigan, where he specializes in family history and Michigan research. Rzepczynski has worked in the genealogical community for nearly 20 years.
He is coming to the Lyon Township Public Library to speak with us and show us how to navigate the new website that is hosting Michigan death certificates it is being hosted at michiganology.org.
Michiganology.org is now hosting death records from the microfilm collections at the Library of Michigan and the Vital Records Office of the Department of Health and Human Services. Images of the death certificates are available for records older than seventy-five years. Any records not yet seventy-five years old, are still available even though the image is not yet visible. Per state law, vital records must be seventy-five years or older before they can be made publicly available online.
