Let's Talk About...Civil Disobedience
Join a local social justice expert to read and discuss children's stories featuring civil disobedience and make a craft!
This program is part of the 2019 “Let’s Talk About” community conversations series in conjunction with the libraries of Northville, Novi, Salem-South Lyon, Wixom and Walled Lake. One Saturday morning each month, one of the partnering libraries will host a reading and discussion exploring a different social justice topic.
Our goal is to engage youth in critical exploration of social justice topics through children’s literature. Topics include poverty, bullying, mental health, bullying, immigration, gender, race, and more. Guest community members will share children’s stories, and lead age-appropriate discussions on each month’s topic, followed by a special craft. This program is designed for ages 4 to 12 with an adult but families of all ages are welcome. An adult is required to stay throughout the program to help guide children through the discussion.
