Special Saturday Storytime With Discussion and Craft In-Person

Heidi Sproull, LMSW will be visiting us and reading a few children's books about gender expression and leading a discussion and a craft for kids 4-12 years old and their adults. This program is part of the 2019 “Let’s Talk About” series in conjunction with the libraries of Northville, Novi, Salem-South Lyon, Wixom and Walled Lake. One Saturday morning each month, one library is hosting a reading and discussion exploring a different social justice topic. This program is designed for ages 4 to 12 with an adult. An adult is required to stay throughout the program to help guide children through the discussion.

Our goal is to engage youth in critical exploration of social justice topics through children’s literature. Topics include poverty, bullying, mental health, bullying, immigration, gender, race, and more. Guest community members will share children’s stories, and lead age-appropriate discussions on each month’s topic, followed by a craft or a special take-home craft. Families are welcome.
